영국의 침례교 목사.. 개신교 급진적 개혁주의이며, 교회와 사회 관계인식은 매우 보수적인 성향의 신학자였다. 스펄전은 설교에 있어서 큰 영향을 주었는데 후대에 사람들을 그를 "설교자의 왕"으로 부른다.
